Gordon Haskett Research Development Announcement

Sep 30, 2013

Gordon Haskett Capital Corp. is pleased to announce that the firm is in the process of launching an independent equity research division, targeting a Q1 2014 launch. Gordon Haskett Research Advisors will focus on equity research and insights across North American equity markets, sectors and individual stocks. Our institutional clients have consistently told us that they value unique, differentiated content, that cuts through market noise and data points, helps them work through their investment process, and points to actionable investment ideas.

John Argenti will head the research division and the client distribution effort. Argenti said “We intend to bring unique investment content of the highest quality to institutional investors. Our approach will provide tailored, highly responsive coverage to a narrow group of institutional clients, keeping our content, insights and service to a limited distribution list, and operating unconstrained by the conflicts that can arise within a larger bank.” Gordon Haskett is in dialogue with a number of leading research analysts and market commentators about how the independent research model, partnered with the resources of an established broker dealer, is particularly attractive to both franchise analysts and their institutional audience.

Mr. Argenti has over 20 years of equity sales and trading experience. Prior to launching Gordon Haskett Research Advisors, Mr. Argenti helped found and was the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Sales of Consumer Edge Research, LLC. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley where he spent ten years in institutional equity sales. During the last five years at Morgan Stanley Mr. Argenti created, managed and grew the hedge fund sales and global product groups. He was previously in institutional equity sales at Lehman Brothers for five years and started his career at JP Morgan in fixed income sales and foreign exchange trading. His core focus with investors has consistently been fundamental, bottoms-up equity research, and his product experience extends to multiple equity derivative, credit, rate, and structured products. Mr. Argenti earned an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a BA from Tulane University.
